2026 International Conference on Large Language Model Technology and Applications (LMTA 2026) Successfully Held in Hong Kong, China

From July 24 to 26, 2026, the 2026 International Conference on Large Language Model Technology and Applications (LMTA 2026) concluded successfully in Hong Kong, China. The conference was sponsored by the Hong Kong Institute of Educational Technology and Talent Innovation Development, and jointly organized by the Hong Kong Postdoctoral Joint Training Research Station, the Hong Kong Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Development, and the International Academic Organizations Alliance. The event featured three high-level keynote speeches, two invited speeches, as well as 21 oral presentations and poster sessions. It brought together experts and scholars from domestic and international universities and research institutions, both on-site and online, to the Pearl of the Orient. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as large language model architecture optimization, multimodal learning, intelligent computing systems, and AI safety and governance, actively promoting the deep integration of academic research and industrial applications in large model technology.

     Gathering of Minds at the Victoria Harbour, A New Chapter for Large Model Technology      

The conference was moderated by Associate Professor Ata Jahangir Moshayedi from Dongguan University of Technology, and the opening address was delivered by Professor Wu Xiaowen from the Hong Kong Institute of Educational Technology and Talent Innovation Development. An appointment ceremony was held during the conference: Professor Ding Liangxi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanchang Institute of Technology and Postdoctoral Supervisor at the Hong Kong Postdoctoral Joint Training Research Station, presented a Visiting Professor certificate to Mr. Ma Yichao MH, Member of the Kwun Tong District Council, Chairman of the International Youth Cultural Exchange Centre, and Director of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Association, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor certificate to Mr. Yan Guosheng, Vice Director of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Association and Director of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cultural Exchange Centre (Bao'an District). Professor Sung Wook Baik from Sejong University, South Korea, the conference's Publication Chair, also attended the event in person.

     Frontier Insights, Leading New Academic Dimensions      

The conference was honored to have Professor Shen Yajing from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor Huang Huawei from Sun Yat-sen University, and Associate Professor Ata Jahangir Moshayedi from Dongguan University of Technology as keynote speakers. The three speakers shared their latest research findings, unlocking innovative pathways for large model applications in diverse scenarios such as smart manufacturing, smart agriculture, and digital cultural heritage conservation. Associate Professor Cui Peipei and Lecturer Liu Lili from Taiyuan University of Technology also delivered insightful invited speeches on AI-assisted cultural heritage conservation and restoration, and multimodal ethnic music generation, respectively.

In addition, the conference hosted20 oral presentations and16 poster sessions. Young scholars from numerous universities and research institutions, including Northwestern Polytechnical University, Shanghai International Studies University (Shanghai Academy of Global Governance & Area Studies), Taiyuan University of Technology, Changsha University of Science & Technology, Southeast University, Zhejiang University, Wuxi Vocational College of Science and Technology, and Politecnico di Milano, enthusiastically shared their research findings. The presentation topics covered innovative applications of large models in multimodal learning, intelligent computing, cultural preservation, music generation, and beyond. During the coffee breaks, scholars engaged in discussions at the poster display area, exchanging ideas in a relaxed atmosphere and furthering their research directions. The lively on-site interactions effectively advanced the integration of large model technology with industrial practices.
